What is included with each Mahjong set?

Every BamChive American Mahjong set includes 160 acrylic tiles: the full 152 tiles required for American Mahjong play (numbered suits, winds, dragons, flowers, jokers, and blanks) plus 8 spare tiles. Accessories such as racks, pushers, game mats, and carrying cases are not automatically included with every set. Each product page lists exactly what's in the box, so please review the inclusions carefully before purchasing. If you're looking for a complete setup, check our bundles or add coordinated accessories separately.

Are BamChive designs original?

Every tile design is entirely original, created in-house by our founding team. Our co-founders, Circle Deng and Square Chen, bring architectural and product design backgrounds to each collection, building distinct cultural stories, moods, and color palettes into every set. We think of BamChive as a living archive of Mahjong design, where each collection tells its own narrative through illustration, color, and material.

Will BamChive tiles fit my existing racks?

Yes. Our tiles are sized to fit standard 20-inch American Mahjong racks, so they're compatible with most rack setups you may already own. If you're looking for racks designed specifically to complement our sets, our Pearlescent Magnetic Acrylic Racks and Pushers (sold as a set of four) are available separately.

Do you offer international shipping?

We do ship internationally. Availability, estimated delivery times, and shipping costs for your region will be calculated and displayed at checkout. Once your order ships, you'll receive tracking information by email so you can follow your package every step of the way.

What is your return policy?

We accept returns within 7 days of delivery for products that are unused, unopened, and in their original packaging. You'll need to email us for approval before sending anything back. Please note that a 20% return handling fee applies, and original shipping costs are non-refundable. Once we receive and inspect your return, approved refunds are issued within 7 to 10 business days.

How long does it take to process my order?

Orders are typically processed within a few business days. Once your order ships, you'll receive a confirmation email with tracking details. Delivery timelines depend on your location and the shipping method selected at checkout. During peak seasons (especially around the holidays), processing may take slightly longer due to high demand.

What product variations should I expect?

Because our sets are produced in limited quantities with careful attention to materials and finish, minor variations in color, texture, or the layered acrylic finish can occur from set to set. These small differences are a natural part of the production process and reflect the handcrafted quality of each collection. They do not affect gameplay or durability.

Do I need an NMJL card to play, and is one included?

The National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card, which lists the official hands for each year, is not included with any BamChive set. You can purchase the current year's card directly from the NMJL for approximately $15. It's an essential companion for American Mahjong play, and the League releases a new card each spring.

What are BamChive tiles made of, and how durable are they?

Our tiles are crafted from acrylic, the preferred material for premium American Mahjong sets. Acrylic offers excellent durability, scratch resistance, and color retention over time. The polished, layered finish gives each tile a rich visual depth while standing up to regular play. With basic care, your set will look and feel beautiful for years.

Do you offer travel-sized Mahjong sets?

We do. Our Cozy Nest Cat-Themed Travel Mahjong Set is designed for players who want to bring the game along on trips, to friends' homes, or to the park.
